"It's a popular story in Japan. Everyone knows it. It's about a very famous dog. It takes pladce in one of the most popular places to meet in Tokyo. The dog is our favorite character. The story leaves you with a good memory. We recommend it because it's a really good book about a nice dog."

Thank you for coming to visit our school. I liked your story about Hachiko. I also liked your dog. Those pictures are very funny. We're reading Stone fox in reading groups. Your books are funny we do drafts in class. What does Hachiko mean in Japanese?"

[Answer: the Chinese characters that make up Hachiko's name mean "Eight thousand publics" so it really doesn't "mean" much of anything.]
